Registered Censored Letter to Italy dated August 8, 1917
A cover from Tientsin to Italy franked with one SG2 two cent stamp, one SG4 six cent stamp and one SG7 twelve cent stamp paying the 10 cent registered letter fee and the 10c Treaty Port/UPU rate. Cancelled with two Webb type B Index A cds and a clear Registered Rii handstamp. Backstamped with multiple clear markings including a Genoa censor handstamp. One of the interesting facts concerning markings from Tientsin is that during the entire life of the Treaty Ports and in spite of Tientsin being one of the largest Ports and the entry to Peking, only two types of cds were ever used. |
